KNUST has added Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC) to its affiliated institutions. The addition of CAUC thus brings KNUST’s local affiliates to sixteen (16). The affiliation took place at a short ceremony at the Council Chamber when both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to that effect.
Professor William Otoo Ellis, the Vice–Chancellor, said KNUST as an academic institution in executing its core mandate, works with other institutions and grooms others in fulfilling the mandate. Professor Ellis said due to the demands associated with affiliations, the University has started an Affiliations Office to address affiliation issues.
He pledged KNUST’s support for them and to confer KNUST degrees on their students pursuing undergraduate studies in Accounting, Information Systems, Information Technology and Communication Design.
Again, he used the occasion to caution that KNUST would not compromise on the high standards the University has set over the years, as such KNUST had put stringent measures in place and would offer moderators and auditors to ensure total quality in their institution and their products.
Professor Philip Yeboah, President of CAUC, stated that the Christ Apostolic Church International (CAC) decided to contribute to the human capital of Ghana by providing higher Christian education. In 2007 the leadership of the church set up a committee to see to the realisation of their dream of establishing a tertiary institution. Their dream came to fruition and CAUC was accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) in 2011, which enabled them to start operations in February the same year with nine (9) programmes.
However, the implementation committee chose to partner KNUST for science and technology courses as a mentor institution. He thanked management of KNUST on behalf of the Church.
Professor Yeboah and Asante Agyarko, Registrar of CAUC signed the MOU on behalf of their institution.
