Admission of Candidates into Bachelor of Science Top-Up Programmes in Nursing, Midwifery, Emergency Nursing and Public Health Nursing for the 2022/2023 Academic Year

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into BSc. Top-up Programmes at the Department of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. Take note that the Diploma upgrade Programmes have now been revised to THREE (3)-year BSc. Programmes. Certificate holders are encouraged to apply for the BSc. Programmes at the same Centres that used to run the Diploma Programmes. All BSc. Programmes for Diploma holders have a revised duration of TWO (2)-years.

Entry Requirements for BSc. Top-Up (Regular) Programmes
- BSc. Emergency Nursing
Holders of Diploma in Nursing with a good pass and have at least TWO (2) years of working experience and duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for Diploma holders.
- BSc. Nursing
Holders of Diploma in Nursing with a good pass and duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for Diploma holders.
- BSc. Midwifery
Holders of the Diploma in Midwifery with a good pass and duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for Diploma holders.
Entry Requirements for BSc. Top-Up (Sandwich) Programmes
- BSc. Midwifery (Top-Up Sandwich Programme for Diploma Holders) - Two (2) Years (Diploma Top-Up)
Applicants must be holders of a Diploma in Midwifery duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes.
- BSc. Nursing (Top-Up Sandwich Programme for Diploma Holders) - Two (2) Years (Diploma Top-Up)
Applicants must be holders of the Registered General Nursing Diploma, duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other recognized nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such candidates will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for Diploma holders.
- BSc. Nursing (Top-Up Sandwich Programme for Certificate Holders) - Three (3) Years (Certificate Top-Up)
Applicants must be nurse assistants (clinical) with certificates, duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other recognized nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for certificate holders.
- BSc. Public Health Nursing (Top-Up Sandwich Programme for Diploma Holders) - Two (2) Years (Diploma Top-Up)
Applicants must be Diploma holders in Public Health Nursing or Community Health Nursing and duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other recognized nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants must satisfy the University’s General Requirements for admission to degree programmes for diploma holders.
- BSc. Public Health Nursing (Top-Up Sandwich Programme for Certificate Holders) - Three (3) Years (Certificate Top-Up)
Applicants must be holders of a Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP)/ certificate in Community Health Nursing, duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or any other recognised nursing and midwifery regulatory body. Such applicants will also be required to satisfy the University’s general requirements for admission to degree programmes for certificate holders.
Mode of Application
- Applicants must purchase an e-Voucher at the Ghana Post Company Ltd
- The e-Voucher contains Login ID or an Application ID, and PIN that will grant access to the online admission portal.
- Candidates should then proceed to the online admissions website at; apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions and begin the application process.
- Once the process has been completed, candidates must print out TWO (2) copies of the completed Application Form, and submit them to the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), KNUST, together with all relevant documents (Photocopies of Certificates and transcripts)
Application Fee: GH¢ 250.00
